Mohamed Salah’s non-celebration of his goal against Chelsea on Saturday was nothing to do with respect for his former club.
Salah finished a neat move to fire Liverpool ahead on 65 minutes in front of the Kop, but the winger failed to celebrate his 15th goal of the season against the Blues.
The Egpyt star just raised his arms a loft with many pundits, fans and papers questioning why he did not celebrate against a club, who he played just 19 times for in two seasons.
However, the Liverpool Echo report that in fact it was tribute to the 305 people who died in his homeland on Friday after a deadly terrorist attack on worshippers at a mosque in Sinai.
After the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, Jurgen Klopp was asked how Salah, who was loaned out twice while at Chelsea, had reacted to the news on Friday.
Klopp said: “It’s not the place to talk about this.
“Our life in football as a professional is nobody cares how we feel. We have to deliver. Obviously he was able to do that.”
Salah tweeted on Friday: “My sincere condolences to the Egyptian people and all the families of the martyrs of El Arish mosque
