7 years after abandoning wife, Rotimi Makinde mocks her success as she turns 50

The Honorable was said to have indirectly insulted his ex-wife who on Sunday, celebrated her 50th birthday and housewarming same day did not receive any celebratory message from her ex-husband. Makinde, who parted ways with his estranged wife seven years ago, posted a picture of his Facebook where he mocked her for not having any man beside her as she adds another year.

His post reads: “Today marks seven years of separation with that bit*h called Bola, she left by 6 a.m, Aregbesola became Governor by 9 a.m and it was also her birthday date…I understand she is celebrating 50 years today and also the opening of a new house in Ikorodu…. She must be preparing to dance but not with a man she can call her husband but just any man. What a life. Many reasons for me to appreciate God…Hon Rotimi Makinde.”

However this post has been deleted from his Facebook profile after he received from his followers on the social media platform. The post was also shared by Veno International magazine publisher on Facebook. Following this outburst, the lawmaker immediately granted an interview with Global Excellence were he denied ever making such a post. He added that his haters would have composed such text.

Makinde said: “The story was meant to portray me in a bad light. It was the figment of the writer’s imagination as I never uttered any destructive word against my former wife or ever wished her evil. My friends know that I am too refined for such. I am happily married to someone who is my angel and I believe the woman in question has also moved on with her life.”

It could be recalled that after separating from his ex-wife, the lawmaker got married to a 23-year-old lady, Oyebanke Oyelami who was then a final year student of political science at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun state. The couple has been married for about four years now and have two children together

Conte issues response to Ferdinand's Bakayoko criticism

Antonio Conte has issued a defence of Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko after heavy criticism from Rio Ferdinand.

Bakayoko has struggled to establish himself at Chelsea after joining from Monaco in the summer.

The midfielder failed to impress against Liverpool, and Ferdinand laid into him after his performance.

“If I was Gary Cahill out there, I’d be screaming at Bakayoko,” he said. “Defensively he’s been an absolute disgrace today.

“I don’t know what he is at the moment. He’s very athletic in terms of his build but I don’t see him upping his game pace wise at any point in the game. I’m not sure what kind of midfielder he is.”

Conte was asked about his midfielder’s displays thus far, and admitted that there is room for improvement.

“Don’t forget Bakayoko is a player very young. He’s only 22 years old,” he said.

“And for many reasons he played a lot of games. I think he needs to improve, under tactical aspect with us and to go into our idea of football.

“But, at the same time, for a young player to play with this regularity is not simple. He’s playing well.

“It’s normal you can alternate good performance with other performance less good. But I think he’s a young player, he’s working very well and I’m very happy for his commitment, for his behaviour.

“But, for sure, he has a lot of space for improvement.”

Members of a deadly gang have attacked and killed a man who ran to take refuge inside a nursery school in a Cross River State community.

A man who ran into Government Primary School, Henshaw Town, along Egerton, in Calabar, Cross River State capital, has been shot by a suspected cult members.

According to Vanguard, the incident occurred on Wednesday around 10a.m., when an unregistered tricycle conveying three occupants got to the area from Ekeng Ewa Street.

An eyewitness, Peter Martins, said when the victim and some of his friends sighted the suspected cult members, they jumped into the classroom through the window and disrupted examinations being written by pupils in the nursery section.

A Nigerian woman by name Mrs. Obiageli Ezeanowiyi is in serious trouble after she reportedly killed her fellow church member in an accident while she was allegedly driving and receiving phone call.

According to PM Express, Ezeanowiyi lost control of the car and killed the victim known as Madam Chichi on their way to church. The tragic incident took place at Jakande Estate junction at Okeafa, Isolo close to St. Peters Catholic Church where both were members and belonged to the Adoration Ministry organised by a popular Catholic priest.

The suspect has been arrested and detained at the police station and she is now facing murder charge because of the manner the accident happened.

It was gathered that the late Madam Chichi who ran a popular joint and lived at Isolo, was going for Sunday adoration service before the incident happened. The deceased was said to have got to Jakande junction and was trying to get another tricycle that will take her to the church.

However, while she was still standing at the bus stop, Mrs. Obiageli who was driving her Nissan Pathfinder SUV ran into her and killed her instantly.

Eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident alleged that Mrs. Obiageli was answering phone call while driving which made her to lose control and hit the woman while driving to the church.

Meanwhile, her corpse has been taken to Isolo mortuary for autopsy report while Obiageli reported herself to the police who detained her at the police station. The Pathfinder SUV which Obiageli used to kill Chichi was also recovered and parked at the Ejigbo Police Station as exhibit.

The suspect, Obiageli is still being detained at the Ejigbo police Station as police detectives prepare necessary papers to charge her to court for murder.

However, members of the church, both relations and neighbours were seen around the station trying to find a peaceful solution to resolve the matter.

The late Madam Chichi hailed from Mbano in Imo State and had three children before she died on Sunday.

Egypt president vows forceful response after mosque massacre

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has vowed to respond forcefully after attackers killed at least 235 worshippers in a packed mosque in restive North Sinai province, the country’s deadliest attack in recent memory.

Al-Sisi declared three days of mourning would begin Saturday, the day after the gun and bomb assault on the Rawda mosque, roughly 40 kilometres (25 miles) west of the North Sinai capital of El-Arish.

In a televised speech the president pledged to “respond with brutal force”, adding that “the army and police will avenge our martyrs and return security and stability with force in the coming short period”.

Several hours later Egyptian air force jets destroyed vehicles used in the attack and “terrorist” locations where weapons and ammunition were stocked, an army spokesman said.

Witnesses said assailants had surrounded the mosque with all-terrain vehicles and detonated a bomb. They then mowed down panicked worshippers as they tried to flee and used congregants’ vehicles they had set alight to block routes to the mosque.

The state prosecutor’s office said in a statement that 235 people were killed and 109 wounded in the attack, the scale of which is unprecedented in a four-year insurgency by Islamist extremist groups.

AFP photographs of the scene indicated that children were among the dead.

World leaders condemned the attack. US President Donald Trump condemned on Twitter the “horrible and cowardly terrorist attack on innocent and defenceless worshippers”.

The grand imam of Cairo’s Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, condemned “in the strongest terms this barbaric terrorist attack”.

– IS targeting of Sufis –
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bloodshed.

The Islamic State group’s Egypt branch has killed hundreds of policemen and soldiers, and also civilians accused of working with the authorities, in attacks in the north of the Sinai peninsula.

They have also targeted followers of the mystical Sufi branch of Sunni Islam as well as Christians.

A tribal leader and head of a Bedouin militia that fights IS told AFP that the mosque is known as a place where Sufis gather.

The Islamic State group shares the puritan Salafi view that Sufis are heretics for seeking the intercession of saints.

The jihadists had previously kidnapped and beheaded an elderly Sufi leader, accusing him of practising magic which Islam forbids, and abducted Sufi practitioners later released after “repenting”.

The group has killed more than 100 Christians in church bombings and shootings in Sinai and other parts of Egypt, forcing many to flee the peninsula.

The military has struggled to quell jihadists who pledged allegiance to IS in November 2014.

The jihadists have since increasingly turned to civilian targets, attacking not only Christians and Sufis but also Bedouin Sinai inhabitants accused of working with the army.

The Gaza Strip’s border crossing with Egypt that had been due to reopen Saturday will remain closed until further notice because of the attack, a Palestinian official said.

Aside from IS, Egypt also faces a threat from Al-Qaeda-aligned jihadists who operate out of neighbouring Libya.

A group calling itself Ansar al-Islam — Supporters of Islam in Arabic — claimed an October ambush in Egypt’s Western Desert that killed at least 16 policemen.

Many of those killed belonged to the interior ministry’s secretive National Security Service.

The military later conducted air strikes on the attackers, killing their leader Emad al-Din Abdel Hamid, a most wanted jihadist who was a military officer before joining an Al-Qaeda-affiliated group in Libya’s militant stronghold of Derna.

Welcoming three aging Navajo "code talkers," who helped keep allied operations secret during World War II, Trump threw etiquette out the window to attack Senator Elizabeth Warren.

"You were here long before any of us were here," Trump said to one of the group.

"Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas," he continued, prompting staff to smother giggles.

It is a sobriquet Trump has repeatedly used to describe Warren, who has spoken about her mother's Native American ancestry and has been a political thorn in Trump's side.

During the remarks, Trump and the three veterans stood beneath a portrait of controversial president Andrew Jackson -- who ordered the forced removal of Native Americans from their ancestral land, causing thousands to die.

The White House denied that Trump's remarks were a racial slur and claimed that what was "very offensive" was Warren "lying" about her ancestry.

Conservatives have accused Warren of exaggerating her Native American heritage in order to advance her career.

This is the shocking moment a woman picks up a pushchair with an eight-month-old baby inside and hurls it into the road during a deadly knife fight with the infant's parents.

Yohanna Pinones Iter, 38, and her husband Jorge Huerta, 40, had started a fight with a kiosk owner in Antofagasta, Chile, accusing him of puncturing their tyres.

CCTV footage shows the owner's infant son is sat in a stroller next to the kiosk, and during the fight, Pinones Iter grabs the buggy and throws it into the road as the baby's mother rushes to save him.

Pinones Iter and Huerta is reported to have had a longstanding feud with the kiosk owner and his wife, and they had turned up at the little stall with their 18-year-old daughter to accuse him of sabotaging their work vehicle. 

CCTV footage starts with the the 36-year-old kiosk owner's wife waiting patiently beside their baby son's pushchair while her husband served his last customer before shutting up shop for the night.

Pinones Iter and Huerta and their daughter, as well as a fourth person suddenly appeared on the scene with sticks, approaching the owner.

A woman thought to be the daughter can be seen pulling the baby's mum back by the hair as she tries to protect her husband.

The kiosk owner comes out with a large knife in his hand, appearing to injure Pinones Iter in the chest, before fatally stabbing Huerta during an ensuing brief struggle.

The CCTV footage shows Pinones Iter reacting to her husband's stabbing by picking up the pushchair with the tot inside and hurling it with all her might onto the road as his horrified mum ran towards her in a failed attempt to stop her.

Pinones Iter, who appears to be knifed again as the baby lay on the ground, then collapses off camera.

Pinones Iter and Huerta both died at the scene before paramedics arrived.

The couple's 18-year-old daughter was also hospitalised after the late-night street battle, just before 11pm local time on Saturday.

There was no immediate news about the baby's condition, although he is not thought to have been seriously hurt.

Last night friends and relatives of the dead couple took to Facebook to pay tribute to them.

Yohanna's sister Aida demanded respect for her family and said people were 'writing rubbish' after viewing the sickening video.

Her cousin Marisa posted pictures of Margarita and her husband on Facebook under a black ribbon and wrote: 'My soul is sad. My cousin Yohanna Pinones Iter and her husband Jorge Huerta are now in heaven.

'I cannot believe what that man did to them. He left my nephews without their parents and I cannot believe I will never see them again.

'I will always remember you the way you were. Rest in peace my cousin.'

Local Constanza Rozas Morales showed she clearly had no sympathy for the dead woman by claiming on social media: 'Anyone who is capable of throwing a pushchair with a baby inside like that doesn't deserve to live.'

Jose Espejo added: 'What a miracle no cars were passing at the time. They went looking for their own deaths.'

The warring couples are said to have had a long-running rivalry over a debt, although the double homicide is said to have happened after the dead couple discovered the tyres on a vehicle they used for work had been punctured.

Gruesome footage from the scene in Antofagasta city centre showed the two corpses lying in the street under bright orange blankets next to pools of blood and alongside police cars with their sirens flashing.

Police chief Sergio Cornejo confirmed a man and a woman were already dead when officers reached the scene - and said the third person involved in the fracas, their 18-year-old daughter, was in hospital but was not seriously injured.

The alleged killer, who has not been named and is expected to be remanded in custody, is believed to be claiming that he acted out of self-defence.

A video clip of the deadly attack that left a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God dead has been revealed. The unnamed man of God was brutally murdered on the 26th of November, 2017.

The notorious ritual killers, popularly as known as “Badoo boys” reportedly used a stone to smash the head of the man in Ikorodu,Lagos.

The man's wife and baby were left in critical condition.

Carlos Tevez's troubled spell in China looks to be over after flying home to Argentina -- just as his side Shanghai Shenhua won the FA Cup.

The 33-year-old Argentine forward has had a miserable 11 months in China despite earning some of the highest wages in world football, an estimated 730,000 euros a week.

The former Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus star has played only half the games and scored just four Chinese Super League (CSL) goals all season.

He was not involved in the FA Cup final first leg or Sunday's second leg at rivals Shanghai SIPG, Shenhua winning the title on away goals despite going down 3-2 on the night.

Shenhua coach Wu Jingui said Tevez jetted home after he failed to make the squad for the second leg and his career in China is almost certainly over, although Wu would not be drawn on that.

"He wasn't named in the squad so he made the decision to go back to Argentina. I understand why -- a player of his high level," said Wu.

"Tevez has made a great contribution, especially in the FA Cup, he's not like the person that people say -- he is hardworking in training, training twice a day, morning and afternoon.

"He did a great job and technically he's a great player."

Wu, who led Shenhua to FA Cup glory after taking over from Gus Poyet, previously labelled Tevez overweight and had said that he would not play the Argentine former international until he shaped up.

Chinese football fans have been less than impressed with Tevez too, labelling him "very homesick boy" -- a nod to his penchant for flying back to Argentina at signs of trouble.

He has been linked with a return to his former club Boca Juniors.
