Young Couple Gets Engaged Only Hours Before They Find Themselves Fighting Fire At Liquor Store littlethings.com Dec 8, 2017 10:54 PM

Lucas Mayne and his fiancée are no doubt busy planning their wedding, and they have one great story to tell about the night they got engaged. I mean, how many engagements do you know that end up in a raging fire?

It all began on an evening when Lucas surprised his then-girlfriend with an engagement ring over a romantic dinner.

Afterwards, the newly-engaged couple were driving home when Lucas’ fiancée spotted a fire inside a liquor store.

She quickly turned to Lucas.

“She looked at me and said, ‘You have to go to that, don’t you?” And I said, ‘Yeah, I can’t not,'” Lucas recalled.

You see, Lucas is a volunteer firefighter and a passionate one at that, so when he saw the fire in the liquor store he knew he had to take action.

He ran to a nearby station, got inside an engine, and went back to the liquor store to put the blaze out.

His fiancée got out of the car and handled crowd control while Lucas went to work.

The other firemen arrived shortly afterwards and together they put out the blaze. Thanks to Lucas though, they were able to handle the fire fast enough so that it didn’t overtake the whole building.

An engagement and a fight with a fire — all in a night’s work!
